DID YOU KNOW THAT WW-P IS TRYING TO SET A RUBIK’S CUBE WORLD RECORD?

You can be a world record holder!

WW-P wants to set the world’s record: the record for the number of people solving Rubik’s Cube at the same time in the same venue. The current world’s record was set by 300 people, and WW-P aims to gather about 500 people.

The event was scheduled for May 19, 2012, but in an effort to train the number of cubers needed, the date has been changed to January 6, 2013. So, if you are interested in participating in this event, please contact CMS teacher. You have plenty of time
to learn how to solve the cube and to recruit friends and family. Thursday night workshops are available.

For those students who already know how to solve the cube, they need to visit one of
the following teachers: Village – Mr. Heckman ; Millstone – Mr. Green ; Community – Mr. Frame ; Grover – Mr. Maloney or Dr. Doehner ; North – Ms. Biro; South – Ms. Pearson. When you see this teacher, you just need to demonstrate that you can solve the cube in a 10-minute period. Upon completion, the teacher will give you an“Approved Registration” which we ask you return promptly.

For any students and/or parents interested in learning how to solve the cube, we will
be hosting instructional sessions at HS North in the Lower Dining Hall on Thursday nights from 6-7 PM. The last session this year will be:  5/17.

Go to the Break the World Record with the Rubik’s Cube website for more info.

Questions? Contact CMS teacher, Craig Frame.

LET’S LIGHT NORTH!

The WWPHS Boosters are committed to having the lights installed in both high schools by next summer.  They need to raise $100K by then. Between, the 3 fundraisers planned for this school year and the sales of the pole advertisements, it can be done.

We need to show the Booster Club that we want the lights at North. If you don’t have the time to volunteer, here is what you can do to show your support:

2. Purchase a Light Pole plaque. So far 1 gold and 1 Bronze has been sold at North. There are still 26 left to sell: http://www.wwphsboosters.org/home/light-pole-plaque-fundraiser

3. Try to sell one Pole Banner advertisement:

American Cancer Society Recruiting Volunteers in Mercer County NJ

The American Cancer Society for the Central New Jersey Region provides free, direct services to people touched by cancer. The programs they offer to patients and their families rely heavily on community involvement.

Currently, they are looking to educate Mercer County community members about the work that is done by their organization and how they can get involved. There are three opportunities they would like to share:

Volunteer Drivers
Volunteer drivers donate their time and use of their cars so
that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need by providing
local transportation to cancer patients who are undergoing treatment and do not
have a ride to their treatment facility.

Patient Navigators
The role of a Patient Navigator is to provide support to patients

and their caregivers by identifying and linking them to available resources from
the hospital, local community and the American Cancer Society (training
provided).

Administrative/Data Entry
Assistance is always needed in the local office with help of mailings, program data entry, and

other administrative duties.

If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, feel free to contact the local Director of Patient and Family
Services, Fiordaliza (Liza) Gomez at (732)951-6317 or fiordaliza.gomez@cancer.org.
